Skills for the Stage II:  Long Form Improv

Using quick thinking and the ensemble, use the medium of long form improv to grow your skills as an actor and comedian. Long form is driven by characters and stories to create dynamic performances focused on plot as opposed to games.  Learn the pillars of long form improv, and begin saying yes, and !

Telling Tales:  Elephant & Piggie

Elephant & Piggie are coming to the classroom! Develop skills in storytelling and character development as you adapt Elephant & Piggie’s tales with a focus on teamwork, problem-solving and active listening. Take the stories, themes, and characters of Mo Willem’s stories and bring them to life through body, voice, and imagination.

Spotlight Stories:  Charlotte’s Web

Visit Wilbur, Charlotte, and the rest of your favorite characters through this storytelling class!  Develop story construction skills, character creation, and teamwork through ensemble activities using the actor’s of the tool of body, voice and imagination.

Stage Creations:  Diary of a Wimpy Kid 

Being a kid isn’t easy, and that’s something Greg knows for sure. Using the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series as inspiration, create a story about school, family, and friends through ensemble story creation. Using improvisation, character work, and brainstorm, create the next Diary of a Wimpy Kid!

Performing the Song: Music from Moana

It’s amazing how far you’ll go in this class! Take a dive into music from the movie as students develop their storytelling skills through singing and dancing. Build the connection between body and voice while strengthening vocal skills such as breathing, harmony, rhythm, diction, and resonance. As students develop their technique, the tale of Moana and Maui will come to life!

Short Form Improv & Sketch Comedy

Have a flair for comedy? Do you make all of your friends laugh? Explore the fundamentals of short form improv and sketch comedy to turn your favorite pastime into an artform. Learn how to think on your feet, collaborate, and laugh with your comedy troupe in this class.

Actor’s Toolbox: A Director’s Actor

Hone your acting skills by learning to approach scenes and characters with a director's lens.  Consider the audience’s perspective, the use of space, the theme of the scene, and the objectives of the characters as you play the scene and study the language with your acting partner.
