The Silver Follies
show is a vibrant tradition at FMCT. At the end of every season, the
Silver Follies, which is a cast consisting of actors/performers age 50+, hosts
a MainStage production. In the past, this has usually been a
vaudeville-like production with a variety of skits, songs and dances. In
2004, The Silver Follies broke with tradition and presented the musical Grease, which
was a box office hit. The following year they presented Bye Bye
Birdie, and the new format for Silver Follies was again wildly accepted by
audiences.
·
The Silver Follies
"Outreach" program evolved after the very first Silver
Follies production at FMCT. The show was so popular that many groups
from different organizations began calling the theatre, requesting the Silver
Follies to perform at their functions.
·
It began on a small
scale and has grown to the point where they perform on an average of two
to three programs a month for the entire year, except July. Programs are
usually 30 to 45 minutes in length. There is no charge for these
programs, however, gratuity is accepted.
·
Performances
include: nursing homes, hospitals, local organizations such as: Army/Navy
reunions, anniversaries, churches, class reunions, Christmas and other holiday
events ... the list goes on and on. Cast members are not required to
participate in "Outreach". Their motto is HAVING A GOOD
TIME!
