BACKSTAGE

Stage Manager (SM) (Some experience preferred)
Responsibilities: Assisting the director as desired; keeping accurate records (prompt book) of all rehearsals / production business; act as liaison between actors, crew, production staff, and director; and running all rehearsals and performances. The SM must be the first to arrive and the last to leave all rehearsals and performances, and ensure all pre-show and post-show duties have been accomplished. During the run of the show, the SM is in charge of all aspects of the production, from making sure that cast and crew arrive on time to calling all of the cues. Good communication skills are a must!
Commitment: six weeks of rehearsal, five to seven evenings per week, plus 6 to 13 performances.

Assistant Stage Manger (ASM) (Some experience preferred)
Responsibilities: Assisting the Stage Manager with rehearsals; standing in for absent actor(s); scene shifting during rehearsals; running scene shifts during performances; and assisting the SM with pre-show and post-show checklists. Good communication skills are a must.
Commitment: six weeks of rehearsal, five to seven evenings per week, plus 6 to 13 performances.

Shift Crew (No experience necessary)
Responsibilities: Shifting of the stage units during performances and assisting the properties manager with prop shifts. Position may include heavy lifting with a partner.
Commitment: One week of rehearsal prior to performances, plus 6 to 13 performances.

Properties Manager(No experience necessary)
Responsibilities: Assisting the designer with construction and procurement of show and rehearsal props; organizing prop storage for the production; presetting props for each performance; assisting the running crew with stage shifts; and cleaning and replenishing all consumables after each performance.
Commitment: One week of rehearsal prior to performances, plus 6 to 13 performances.

Light Board Operator (No experience necessary)
Responsibilities: Running the light board for tech. and dress rehearsals as well as all performances; checking all instruments and changing burnt out lamps prior to all performances. This position includes standing on ladders and climbing in the catwalks above the house seats.
Commitment: One evening or Saturday for the light hang, additional day for focusing, one week of rehearsal prior to performances, plus 6 to 13 performances.

Sound Designer (Some experience preferred)
Responsibilities: Working with the director to design all sound effects for a production, and recording all sound effects for a production, and recording all sound effects and music for that production. Basic knowledge of mini-disk, cassette, and CD machines is a must.

Commitment: This can be done to fit with the designer's schedule, provided it has been worked out with the director and technical director beforehand.

Sound Board Operator (No experience necessary)
Responsibilities: Running the sound board for tech. and dress rehearsals as well as all performances and checking all sound equipment prior to each performance.
Commitment: One week of rehearsal prior to performances, plus a 6 to 13 performances.
