10 Minute Plays

Directors – Jim DeBrito, Jacob Dybwad, James Fornes, Dawn Gunderson, Lee Klocke, Lori Koenig, Brenna Lahren, C.C. Manstrom, Adam Pankow

Description

FMCT presents our first ever 10-Minute Play Festival.  Nine original plays will be presented as part of this virtual event.  Most plays will rehearse and film in person except for pieces written exclusively for the Zoom platform.  Health and safety protocols will be utilized for this process.  One play will be released for streaming each week from October 2 through November 20.  The festival will “close” and all filmed plays will be removed from the FMCT website on December 20.

Casting

FMCT’s 2020 10-Minute Play Festival features cast opportunities for male or female actors, ages 10 and up.  Many of the plays are flexible in their gender and age casting requirements.  Those interested may be considered for roles in multiple plays that do not overlap rehearsal/filming schedules.

Actors of all gender identities and expressions, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and physical abilities are strongly encouraged to audition.  Please contact FMCT if audition accommodations are needed.

No prior experience is required or expected for FMCT productions.

Any questions, please contact FMCT Artistic Director, Adam Pankow, at adam@fmct.org.

Auditions

Auditions for this production will be done virtually by utilizing an online audition form and uploading a brief audition video.  Auditions for 10-MINUTE PLAYS will be done in tandem with CLUE: STAY-AT-HOME.  Only one video is needed to audition for both opportunities.  All audition videos and information must be submitted by 6pm on Tuesday, September 15.

Please include the following content in your video audition upload:

  • Your full name and introduction of your audition selection
  • Indicate if you would like to be considered for multiple 10-Minute plays and/or CLUE
  • A 60-90 second monologue

Auditioners may select a monologue of their choosing or they may utilize one of the attached audition sides. Memorization of your chosen piece is not required but it is appreciated.

Directors of each play will be looking for interesting characterization and risk taking in your audition.

Rehearsals and Performances

Each 10-minute play will utilize an eight-day rehearsal schedule beginning on Monday of one week and ending with the final filming of the play on Tuesday of the following week.  Rehearsals will typically be scheduled in the 6:00 – 10:00pm time range on Sunday-Thursday nights.

CLUE

Stay-At-Home Version

Directors – Adam Pankow & Lucas Rutten

Description

FMCT presents a new digital version script of the Paramount Pictures cult classic film, CLUE.  Adapted for a 100% virtual rehearsal and performance experience, this play based on a movie based on a game based on a book, finds Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, and Mr. Green guests of a mysterious and bloody dinner party.   A fast and funny evening is in store.

CLUE: STAY-AT-HOME will be screened live as part of a larger special event cocktail fundraiser benefitting FMCT. The live performance will be recorded that night and reserved for a future on-demand viewing release.

Rehearsals and Performances

Regular rehearsals will occur between Sunday, September 27th and Saturday, October 24th and will largely utilize a Sunday through Thursday schedule (typically in the 7:00 – 10:00pm range).

Casting

CLUE: STAY-AT-HOME features cast opportunities for 6 male and 5 female actors, ages 18 and up.

Roles:

WADSWORTH–a traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal, and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play.

YVETTE–a loyal and sexy French maid.

MISS SCARLET–a dry, sardonic DC Madam, more interested in secrets than sex.

MRS. PEACOCK–the wealthy wife of a Senator, a bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.

MRS. WHITE–a pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.

COLONEL MUSTARD–a puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.

PROFESSOR PLUM–an arrogant academic, easily impressed by himself.

MR. GREEN—a timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s awfully anxious.

ENSEMBLE WOMAN

  • THE COOK–a gruff woman with a threatening presence (alive and dead).
  • SINGING-TELEGRAM GIRL–a tap dancer with a heart of gold (alive and dead).
  • BACKUP COP–Backup for the Chief in the final “cops” entrance.

ENSEMBLE MAN 1

  • BODDY–a slick Frank Sinatra/film noir-esque type fella (alive and dead).
  • THE MOTORIST–a professional driver (alive and dead).
  • CHIEF OF POLICE–a cop who helps to save the day.

ENSEMBLE MAN 2

  • THE UNEXPECTED COP–a regular Joe (alive and dead).
  • BACKUP COP–backup for the Chief.

Actors of all gender identities and expressions, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and physical abilities are strongly encouraged to audition.  Please contact FMCT if audition accommodations are needed.
